btProvider – Welcome 2020.1

When we look at a chart there are certain elements that capture our eye, these are:

Color

Shape

Position

Length

All these elements are easily recognizable by our brains because our eyes evolved to detect them in time and we do not have to learn anything, we just understand them as follows:

Color – you can easily distinguish orange and blue circles in the following picture:

Shape – you can easily distinguish circles and triangles in the next picture:

Position – you can easily find the highest and lowest point in the next picture:

Length– you can easily find the longest and shortest bar in the next picture:

Besides the above, there is one more element that our brains easily identify and that is motion, and thanks to Tableau, Viz Animations are now live and are a part of the Tableau Visual Arsenal.

This new element will help us create new visualizations or enhance old ones to make use of how our eyes and brains have evolved in time.

We will be sharing a few examples we found for the use of motion in reporting/analytics, the first one will go into the movies, as we discover where my colleagues at btProvider spend their winter holidays and try to make a stop-animation film.
